6th Grade Science Experiments Made Fun and Easy

6th grade science experiments are fairly easy to come up with. All you need to do is come up with a topic that interests you. Originality is not the key factor here. The judges want to see that you are capable of performing an experiment on your own, writing up a description on it and present your findings in an organized and easy to understand way. There is nothing wrong with doing an experiment that has already been done and development it your own.

One arresting topic for a sixth grade science task is eggs. There are tons of experiments that can be done with eggs, such as why raw eggs do not spin as well as hard boiled eggs? Or, when you place an ordinary egg into a jar of water will it sink or float? Will adding salt or sugar turn either it sinks or floats? construction a box that the egg can be located in that will protect it if you were to drop the container. This task is a small more advanced than the other, but just as much fun.

Hard Boiled Eggs Time

You could also try a sixth grade science task on music vs. Noise. Why do habitancy enjoy listening to loud music, but get bothered by loud noise? What's the difference? You could also go with the tried and true volcano project; however, this task should only be done if you have a genuine interest in volcanoes and other geothermal phenomenon, otherwise it's just going to look like an easy out because it has been done so many times in the past.

3. Grocery shopping on an empty stomach just makes junk food more appealing. Do your shopping after your meal rather than before.

4. Hard-boil some eggs. Make a batch of healthy bran muffins. It's easy to grab an egg and a muffin before you rush off to work. This quick and easy step won't leave you tempted to pick up a donut or sugary Danish at the coffee drive-through.

5. For all those nine-to-fivers who go out for lunch five days each week, pack your own lunch at least two days per week. Give yourself a healthy break from the fast food restaurants.

6. If a fast food restaurant can't be avoided, substitute French fries with a salad, and pick grilled chicken or fish on whole grain bread.

7. When it's snack time and the only food source around is a vending machine, pick sunflower seeds, raisins or mixed nuts instead of a chocolate bar.

8. Pop (soda), energy drinks, and soft drinks are loaded with sugar. Your drink of selection should be pure, fresh water or a healthy beverage like skim milk, or 100% vegetable or fruit juice.

9. When it comes to snack foods, pick baked over fried. No processed snack foods should be the goal, but a baked potato chip is great than a fried chip, and best is something made with whole grains. Go even great yet and substitute your regular chip dip with a homemade one from fresh, raw vegetables.

10. Make extra soup for supper and use an insulated box to take some soup to work the next day. Perfect the meal with a few carrot or celery sticks for a healthy lunch.

11. Max out on your fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables need very puny prep time. It should be a snap to get in the daily requirement of five servings.

12. pick more foods with omega-3 indispensable fatty acids. Substitute fish instead of meat at least two times per week or use flax-seed oil on salads and vegetables.

Bonus Tip: Drink one-half your body weight in ounces of water each day ( a 150 pound someone will drink 75 ounces of water)

Super Easy Science Experiments - Tying Knots in Bones!

It is proven repeatedly that with super easy science experiments, you do not need to re-invent the wheel to have fun! In any way, tying knots in bones are far more fun and impressive than trying to re-invent the wheel!

In order to tie knots in bones, we need to understand the basics first by doing a simple experiment with an egg. You can use a raw egg, but it is less risky with regard to cleaning if you use a boiled egg.

Hard Boiled Eggs Time

Use a clear glass or jar and fill it up with sufficient vinegar to cover the egg wholly and place the egg into the glass or jar filled with the vinegar. You will see the considerable of the experiment starting to happen. Do you see the bubbles rising from the egg? Good, now leave the egg in the vinegar for at least 24 hours.

Super Easy Science Experiments - Tying Knots in Bones!

After the 24 hours have expired, take the egg out of the vinegar. What happened? The eggshell has come to be wholly soft! Now repeat the same experiment, using the same vinegar, and put some chicken bones in the vinegar and wait 24 hours again.

Once you take out the egg of the vinegar, place it on a plate or in a bowl and leave it on the table for another 24 hours. At the end of the 24 hours, take the bone out of the vinegar and make a knot in it! Place it on a plate as well. What happened to the egg that you left on the table after the 24 hours? It became hard again!

Here is how it all works. The eggshell, just like the bone, contains calcium carbonate and that is the substance that makes the eggshell and the bone hard. Vinegar is an acid substance and once you couple or bring these two substances into contact carbon dioxide is released. That was the bubbles you were seeing. This chemical reaction will continue until all the carbon in the shell of the egg or in the bone is wholly used up. This process takes about 24 hours to complete.

So how do the egg and the bone becomes hard again? The calcium that remained in the bone and eggshell absorbed the carbon dioxide in the air and this caused the bone and the shell to come to be hard again!

With the chicken bones hard again, show them off and see if citizen can elucidate the mystery of the knotted bones!
